Competition football by the Hamilton Football Club was robust from the late 1880's. Following WWI, several junior Hamilton teams were active and in 1923, Hamilton Football club was formally re-formed. It was not until 1926 that the team affiliated with the Western District Football League.

The Club sold a record 468 memberships in 1961.
The first Sunday game was played in Hamilton (Hamilton vs Hamilton Imperials) in 1965 at Melville Oval.
In 1973, independent goal and boundary umpires for seniors and reserves were introduced.
Hamilton Football Club (with four other local sporting clubs) bid $160,000 at auction in 1992 to purchase Alexandra House as headquarters and a permanent home.

Hamilton Football/Netball Club is fortunate to have extensive training facilities. Our home ground is Melville Oval, located in the centre of Hamilton. Directly opposite in Brown Street, is our club venue Alexandra House, which houses a gymnasium for the use of players and members.
Also located within are the 'Past Players' rooms which contain a myriad of historical memorabilia, photographs, news articles and premiership flags for viewing.
